Lapu-Lapu City’s Fiesta Kick-Off Nite was a blast. Department heads, government workers, and guests enjoyed themselves at the party held on October 3, 2014 at the Lapu-Lapu City Auditorium.

As Lapu-Lapu City promotes its brand as the Historic Resort City and establishes a name in sports tourism, Mayor Paz Radaza also strengthens the sports program for young Oponganons.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza opened the City Palaro yesterday, October 10, 2014, at the Mactan Air Base Grand Stand.

This year, our city has embarked on a new milestone. We have ventured into a new brand that will differentiate us from other cities. A brand that will identify who we are, highlight our illustrious past, and promote our beautiful resorts, five-star hotels, and famous white sand and sea.

As part of the culmination of Science Month, the Babag National High School has organized a pageant entitled “Ginoong at Binibining Kalikasan.” The activity aims to develop the confidence of students and make them aware of the importance of using recycled materials in promoting style and beauty.
Pageant contestants were asked to show creativity by utilizing recycled materials for their attire.
Candidates from the different year levels vied for the following titles: Ginoong at Binibining Lupa, Ginoong at Binibining Hangin, Ginoong at Binibining Apoy, Ginoong at Binibining Tubig at Ginoong at Binibining Kalikasan. Continue reading…
Do you know how dangerous rabies is? Have your dogs vaccinated before it’s too late.
For the period April 29 to September 25, 2014, over 7,500 dogs were registered and given free anti-rabies vaccines, said Lapu-Lapu City Veterinarian Janice Togonon.
Free vaccination was implemented in the 30 barangays of Lapu-Lapu City, including 19 in the mainland and 11 in the coastal areas.
Dr. Togonon said that they are targeting the vaccination of all dogs in each barangay. A team from her office stays two days in every barangay to conduct vaccination. Of the 11,118 dogs, 75 percent were given the vaccine plus other services offered by the City Veterinarian’s Office. Continue reading…

Selected students from the Babag National High School (BNHS) act as environment warriors, helping maintain, protect, and preserve the natural resources in their campus and village.
Every year, the student body elects those who will become members of the School Ecotourism Police.
For school year 2014-2015, these are Rhesty Puray, Thrisha Anito, Rhea Shene Laluna, Serah Dumdum, Josette Gaviola, Ilona Albo, Louie Ariadne Sanchez, Flordeleza Monterde, Doanne Kristett Manhilot, and Elijah Rabe.

The Solid Waste Management Office (SWMO), together with the barangay officials of Babag, conducted an orientation on proper waste management to the School Ecotourism Police of Babag National High School last Wednesday, September 17, 2014.
It was spearheaded by Mrs. Cleofe Solis, consultant of SWMO, who actively shared her experiences in keeping the city’s sanitation despite being one of the progressive cities in the country. The Task Force Kalikasan of Barangay Babag, which was headed by Barangay Councilor Jose Inahid, has shown dedication by constantly monitoring the disposal of garbage through the biodegradable and non-biodegradable segregation policy.
