MEZ 2, CLIP identified as labor laws compliant zones


TWO special economic zones in Lapu-Lapu City were declared “Labor Laws Compliant Zones” by the Department of Labor and Employment.

Labor Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis Baldoz led the unveiling on Monday, December 22, of markers identifying the Mactan Economic Zone (MEZ) 2 and Cebu Light Industrial Park (CLIP) as being 100 percent compliant with labor laws. She was accompanied by Mayor Paz C. Radaza as well as representatives of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Cebu, MEZ II, CLIP, and eco-zone locators.

Both eco-zones were assessed under DOLE’s reform program called the Labor Laws Compliance System (LLCS) and issued Certificates of Compliance on General Labor Standards (GLS) and Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS).
A marker identifying CLIP as Labor Laws Compliant Zone was unveiled on Monday, December 22.
CLIP, a 70-hectare eco-zone developed by the Science Park of the Philippines, has close to 40 locators. MEZ II, on the other hand, is a 60-hectare industrial zone with 44 locators.
