8th Olango Challenge
We are inviting you to the 8th Olango Challenge on May 23, 2015 (Saturday) from 10 am to 4 pm at the Pacific Cebu Resort, Lapu-Lapu City.
This event is organize by the Philippine Business for Social Progress ?(PBSP) in partnership with the Philippine Swimming, Inc. (PSI).
The Olango Challenge is the country’s first open-water swimming competition organized to raised funds for development projects on Olango Island, promote open-water swimming as a sport in the country and raise awareness on the magnitude of driwning in the country.
In previous years, 751 swimmers participated in the competitive and fun categories of the event and raised more than Php5million for the construction of eight classrooms in Olango Island.
This year, the event aims to raise enough funds from sponsorship to support the event’s cause.
Swimmers must be 14 years old to join the race.
Participants who are not members of any swim club must present a medical certificate as part of their registration to ensure that they are physically fit to join the swim.
To register, interested participants of the Olango Challenge have to pay Php 1, 000 for the COMPETITIVE CATEGORY and Php 2,500 for the FUN SWIM.
Swimmers who will change their category on the date of the swim will have to pay a fee of Php500.
Swimmers of the 8th Olango Challenge have to swim through six turning points to complete one loop. The race course has a total distance of 2 kilometers.
Swimmers in the 6k category have to swim the loop three times to complete their course.
Deadline of registration is on May 15.
Start of Race: The swim will begin at 10:00A.M. Participants are required to be at the resort by 8:00 AM for the registration and briefing. Awarding of prizes to the winners follows at 2PM.
Assembly: Registered swimmers may proceed to the pick-up point at Osmena Boulevard corner R.Landon Extension, beside Abellana National School. Assembly is at 5:30 AM. The bus leaves promptly at 6AM.
