Gun-ob’s barangay head Jose “Joe” Dungog considers the P4.5-million renovation of the barangay hall as the biggest project undertaken during his second term in office.
The project, according to Captain Dungog, involved adding another floor to the barangay hall, which was just a single-storey structure when he took over the administration of Gun-ob, one of Lapu-Lapu City’s bigger barangays, in 2007.
“This barangay hall serves as the foundation of the barangay. It reflects the residents of Barangay Gun-ob,” he stressed.
Captain Dungog said the barangay hall could accommodate more now and residents are happy. More space also means a more conducive working environment for barangay personnel and a bigger session hall for the council, he added.
Gun-ob’s barangay hall is located across the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital.
It was first built in the early 1980’s and remained relatively unchanged until 2007, when the barangay captain and his council thought of renovating it.
House Representative Arturo Radaza provided P2.5 million of the P4.5 million funding for the project while the rest of the amount came from the savings of the barangay.
