ASEAN workshop on women’s role in peace process held in city

Leaders and members of the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation held a workshop on strengthening women’s participation in the peace process.

Mayor Paz C. Radaza and Vice Mayor Marcial Yong of Lapu-Lapu City attended the workshop together with Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Teresita Quintos-Deles.

The mayor said that in Lapu-Lapu, she has put emphasis on women and their contribution to the city. Believing they shouldn’t be limited to managing households, she created a women’s group as one way of developing their talents and skills.

Livelihood training programs on cooking, soap and candle making, cake baking are among the activities provided by the women’s group.

The mayor wants the women to actively participate in the city’s projects for their own betterment.
